Hi! My name is Mick Tate and I am a cartoonist, illustrator and puzzle designer based in Sydney Australia. I love my job and believe that it reflects in my work.
My specialities are humorous illustration, gag cartoons and children's puzzles of which thousands have been published in books, magazines, newspapers, brochures, advertising, posters, newsletters and on the web.
I have studied fine art at the QCA (Queensland College of Art - Seven Hills) and graphic design at TAFE in Ultimo.
However, it is by copying the greats and years of experience that you learn the art of cartooning and I have been learning on the job for more than 20 years.
If you need artwork of any kind, I would love to hear from you.
If you have an idea, and you would like to know how it might look once illustrated, then click below and take advantage of my free draft. Absolutely no obligation!
This is the cartoon that got me started in cartooning. It was my entry in a competition run in 1990 by the Daily Mirror newspaper (Sydney) and it won! The judge was the late, great James Kemsley, who wrote and drew the legendary Ginger Meggs comic strip.
